In 1999, he decided to pursue his dream of making wooden furniture for a living and he and his wife, Marina, moved to Betty's Bay in the Overberg, where Nico began his carpentry business in their garage. With time and experience Nico Muller learned his craft and is now teaching others the art of furniture making. In 2004 he opened a workshop in Kleinmond where he applied his wood-working skills using Oregon pine and it wasn't long before he needed to employ a few helpers to assist with his growing business.
Nico has a good eye for proportion and style and his wood furniture soon became sought after. With ordinary pine being easier to work with and ideally suited to apply his trendy new distressed-paint finish, there was just no turning back. Marina Meubels draws their inspiration from many sources. Their cottage style furniture is influenced from as far afield as Scandanavia and the French Provincial region, to the simple lines of the Shaker furniture. Their pieces evoke memories of a turn of the century Cape kitchen or an English country cottage.
So whether you have a rustic seaside cottage, a country getaway, a guesthouse to redecorate or simply love indulging the interior designer inside you – you will be able to find something to your taste in this nostalgic range of hand-crafted wooden furniture.
